Reinventing the Wheel

Last year around this time I took a leap of faith and began to rent the space connected to the apartment where I live. This building has been a lot of things from what I’ve been told; a dentist’s office, an assisted living facility, a lawyer’s office and at the opposite end Sidney Physical therapy (which is thriving!). When Cowen Law Office moved out, our landlord converted the largest part into an apartment and we moved in. There was a section that Cowen continued to use for storage. When they moved out of there, a lightbulb went off. This was the perfect space for my business to set up and let people actually visit me in person and you honestly can’t beat having your business space literally next door!

When I opened my doors, I was limited to the time I could be available. I worked full time for Helios Care as an RN, Monday-Friday with unpredictable hours. So aside from the weekends I was a busy Momma!! After a year of being open weekends, working VERY full time, to say that I was burned out is an understatement. I didn’t want to change jobs becuase I absolutely love where I work, I couldn’t support my family on working just my business and I certainly couldn’t continue to risk my health being so exhausted that getting out of bed everyday was a chore. My physical and mental health were suffering beyond what I’d experienced before. So, I closed my physical shop. We still have the space there and rent doesn’t pay itself so what does a gal do?

More recently I accepted a position at Helios Care working from home as a triage RN overnight. I work one week on, one week off. I still work per diem with them on my week off but my time is much more flexible. Now that I’m starting to get my sleep schedule figured out and I’m no longer a zombie between shifts, I’m starting to sense that I can do this! So, instead of throwing in the towel forever, I let myself reset and with a little boost of confidence I feel like I’m ready to open again!

I’m going to sit down to figure out what hours and days I will be open then once that is figured out in the very near future, I will announce a Grand Re-Opening! Any insight on days/hours are ideal for a small business in a small town is welcomed

Having my 💩 together feels pretty sweet! Hope to see some of you in person soon!
